Quicker way to add tasks to timeline (preferably fewer clicks and no scrolling)

Now it takes me 2 taps, one sideways scroll and another 2 taps to add a favorite or a template to the timeline. I'd love this to be quicker!

For example smaller but always visible buttons for inserting from favs/templates when I click the “+add” button on a timeslot. (In case this might feel cluttered/unintuitive to other users, maybe this could be a toggle feature in the settings, something like “default +add menu vs compact”?)
